The short answer: A/T is a separate style

PersonalityNexa uses Assertive (A) and Turbulent (T) as two ends of an independently designed identity-style dimension. It summarises how your answers describe self-assurance, sensitivity to pressure, self-questioning and recovery after setbacks. It does not alter the four preference letters.

A/T is not a fifth letter in the official MBTI® assessment. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® reports four preference pairs and a four-letter type. PersonalityNexa is not affiliated with, endorsed by or licensed by The Myers-Briggs Company, and its A/T result should not be presented as an official MBTI® result.

  • A suggests steadier self-assurance and recovery in the situations you considered.
  • T suggests more self-monitoring and sensitivity to pressure in those situations.
  • Neither side is healthier, more capable or more employable by definition.

How PersonalityNexa calculates the A/T score

Sixteen dedicated forced-choice questions contribute only to the A/T dimension. The other ninety-three questions estimate the four preference dimensions. After the server verifies that all 109 answers are present, it totals the A and T selections independently and converts their balance to a 0–100 score.

Question order and left–right option placement can change between sessions, but the underlying answer meaning does not. The browser cannot supply a trusted A/T label or score: the server ignores forged result fields and calculates the result from the submitted answer map.

03

What a balanced A/T result means

When the A/T score is within eight points of the midpoint, PersonalityNexa shows the identity style as balanced instead of forcing an A or T suffix. That means the submitted answers supported both sides similarly; it does not mean the test broke or that you have no personality.

A near-midpoint score may reflect flexibility, different behaviour across settings or a response set that does not justify a sharp distinction. Review recent examples from calm periods and pressured periods before deciding which description is more useful.

04

Keep A/T out of placement and career screening

For a student, A/T can prompt questions about exam pressure, feedback and recovery after setbacks. For a professional, it can support a conversation about preparation, uncertainty or confidence. It cannot establish aptitude, employability, stream suitability, leadership potential or future performance.

Expectations can differ across home, college, internship and work. Compare the score with examples from more than one setting, and never submit a PersonalityNexa A/T result as an official MBTI® credential or use it as the sole basis for a placement decision.
